My name is Candy Jacobs. Some of you might know me, but most of you have no idea who I am. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in a small town in The Netherlands. I have an older brother who inspires me daily to be the best person I can be. And then there are my parents, my parents are the most amazing human beings alive.

I have always been a tomboy, in our neighborhood I would play with the guys, climb trees, play tag, jump down stuff and do all the other things that guys do when they grow up. I did have some girl friends but I soon found out that playing with dolls and acting wasn’t my favorite thing to do. My parents always motivated me to do sports or play music. I tried everything, judo, dancing, badminton, playing the saxophone, playing guitar, djembe and probably way more but never really stuck to one thing. I was always a little bit the odd one out.

When I was almost thirteen I went to high school, learning and teachers weren’t my favorite thing but I liked hanging out at school with my friends. I saw some kids wearing super baggy jeans and I liked their style. So I bought some baggy jeans. That same year there was a day on which I was absolutely bored. My mom told me to grab the old skateboard out of the shed which we got a few years earlier for Christmas and that she would take me to the skatepark. So that’s what happened. She dropped me of at the skatepark and told me she would pick me up 2 hours later.

That was the day that changed my life…
