I decided to quit my job and go skate

Last year I decided to quit my job, pack my bags and go skate in all the places I always wanted. My first stop was in Los Angeles, Venice Beach. I have deep affection for Venice Beach, the last six or seven years I’ve been back and forth to Venice, the air feels more free, people are open minded, the ocean, the sunshine and of course it being Dogtown make it my favorite place on earth. That’s why my trip started there.

Four days before I left Venice I got an Instagram message from Monique O’Toole saying that it probably sounded weird but she and Erik Sandoval wanted to go filming and street skating in Los Angeles. Skating all the street spots from Los Angles has been a wish of mine since the first time I visited, so I said yes even though I didn’t know who these people were.

The day we were supposed to meet up I was as nervous as I never had been before. From the first minute we met the vibe felt good. I told Erik and Monique that I was nervous and I didn’t want to skate giant stuff because after these four days I would be staying at Woodward Camp for six weeks. They told me not to worry and it was an honor for them to skate with me. Those four days we filmed 2 minutes’ worth of footage, I decided right away I would come back for more.

Almost a years has gone by now, along the way I made connections for life, got to see and skate amazing spots and I finished my streetpart just a few weeks ago. It must have been the proudest and most gratifying moment in my life…
